21 April: I made it to Brawley yesterday and stayed at a Mom and Pop motel for $35.00. The room was huge, clean, and had a nice, hot shower. Today, I would continue across the scorching 103 degree desert--a 70 mile stretch without services. The Santa Ana winds were blowing in my face, sapping me of energy early in the day.
